Stormcleave Outpost

Stormcleave Outpost is one of the most popular high level experience quests in the game. It is initiated by speaking with Alcianna d'Deneith in the Anvil Fire Inn in House Deneith, and targeted at a group of players, minimum level 5.

Starts at NPC:Alciana d'Deneith
Starts in Zone:Anvil Fire Inn
Level8
Quest LengthVery Long

Map of Stormcleave Outpost. When you first start the quest you should run across the bridge and to the right and speak to Gate Warden Ironclaw. This quest can become buggy if more than one person does the talking so always have the same player do the talking during this mission. We usually also have this same player loot all of the shards. When you speak to him he will open the barrier allowing you to move inside.

From here it is pretty linear. Take things in order, and web when you can. There are various camps here, many with optional experience bosses and chests. There are three rest shrines, two along the way, and one in a cave just before Xanti'lar's throne room. Both of the caves here can sometimes spawn rare mini-bosses with chests.

While making your way you will come across five rune pillars. These can be twisted to activate. When you activate them two mephits will spawn, one at a time. Kill them to update the quest. You must activate all five of them to progress.

There are a few things you can also do for optional experience while moving through. One is to destroy the six very large Magfire crates at one of the giant camps. That is quick and easy. Another thing is to collect the outpost supplies. This is easy but they are very heavy, so many groups skip this step or save it for the end. Once you have them all you can turn them in to Corporal Delvascon at the outpost.

After activating all of the pillars you should move towards Pious Grew'el. When you move towards him skeletons will spawn out of the ground. There are three waves of these before he becomes targetable. Try to clear the waves before rushing in to him to make things easier on yourself.

After this you can use the intelligence rune by the platform to activate the portal to General Xanti'lar's throne room. This is now a one way ticket, you can not portal back into here until Xanti'lar is killed.

This fight is tricky if you don't know what to expect. When you enter the room you will see General Xanti'lar. He has a nasty area effect fire spell, so fire protection is useful, though not required. If you try to rush him he will regenerate faster than you can kill him. In order to drop his regeneration you must clear the four side rooms. Each of these rooms has a barrier locking it. The person who looted the shards can unlock these doors by moving near them. Three of the rooms are populated by mephits. Have one player keep the General occupied while the rest of the party clears the mephits, one room at a time. The far right hand room should be saved for last. This room contains a Greater Earth Elemental who hits extremely hard and has a decent number of hit points.

After clearing all four rooms you can kill General Xanti'lar.

There is a chest in the back of his room, but beware of the lava spout before it.

After slaying Xanti'lar you just need to have the player who is doing the speaking return all the way back to the outpost at the entrance and talk to the Commander to complete the quest.

If you want to maximize your experience before he does so you can initiate an event at the end which will spawn a large wave of monsters for optional experience, before speaking to the Commander.
